Homogeneous spaces are defined as quotient spaces of Lie groups. A classical example is SL(d,R)/SL(d,Z). Since this space can be identified with the space of lattices in the d-dimensional real vector space, one can naturally relate lattice-counting problems to homogeneous dynamics. We begin by examining equidistribution properties through familiar examples, and then present results on lattice-counting problems that can be addressed using tools from homogeneous dynamics. In particular, we focus on problems of Oppenheim-conjecture type.
