Eigenvalue problems have played a pivotal role in the study of minimal surface theory. In this talk, I will first introduce a free boundary minimal surface in the unit ball. Then, I will explain the relationship between this topic and an eigenvalue problem by introducing some studies of the well-known conjecture about the critical catenoid.
