This talk is an introduction to the following problem:
If L is a random lattice of R^n and S is a measurable subset, how are the points of L distributed inside S? This is related to a number of areas such as analytic number theory and quantum chaos, but here we focus on the problem itself rather than its applications. I'll discuss the main tools, current progress, and what needs to be done in the short- and long-term.
