The Weierstraß function is the first recorded example of a continuous function that is nowhere differentiable. Its graph is a fractal set, the Hausdorff dimension of which has been only recently confirmed by Weixiao Shen. The talk will present some of the ideas of the proof, in particular, how smooth ergodic theory plays a role in that classical problem.
