Regularity issues of variational problems originated from Hilbert's 19th problem are one of the central topics in the calculus of variations and partial di erential equations. In this talk, I will discuss a brief historical progress and celebrated works by Ennio De Giorgi and John Nash the so-called De Giorgi-Nash-Moser regularity theory. After that, I will provide some signi cant examples of non-autonomous functionals with nonstandard growth conditions and arguments for leading to the gradient Holder regularity of minimizers.
