In this expository seminar, we overview the definition of local densities of quadratic forms and introduce the Minkowski-Siegel formula.
As an application, we present a recent result on explicit class number formulas for the Siegel-Weil average of ternary quadratic forms, which is done in joint work with Kane and Varadharajan.
